Ride + Design

As few months ago I was invited to speak at the Ride + Design an event created by the West of England Design Forum at the Arnolfini in Bristol.

The event was a wonderful day of exploring the close relationship between bikes and design, covering everything from branding and fashion to modern cycle culture, and I was flattered to be speaking along side so many great and influential people.

I decided to talk about my feelings on what Design really is, how it differs from invention and how courage is so important when engaging in either. During my time as a design engineer I found that having the audacity to rethink ideas and concepts was something that many people lacked, and was indeed often the difference between good and great design.

The talk seemed to go down very well, and I had a great time. Wonder if there’ll be a similar event next year.

Andrew Denham of The Bicycle Academy next gave an impassioned speech on creativity, courage and bravery – and this was perhaps one of the day’s talks to most strike a chord with the attendees who themselves work in the creative industry. One member of the audience later told me that, “he talks so beautifully and elegantly about creativity and the courage required to be creative”. Gary Lake - Event Organiser

We’re moving!

Yep, after just under a year in our current workshop we’re now moving to a bigger space, all be it in the same building! Over the past 2 weeks we’ve been working away to fit out the new unit building internal walls, an office, a sub-let workshop and of course a kitchen!

Thanks to all of the volunteers that have helped us get this far… we’ll be in soon!
